Clayton is a rapidly growing town, the largest in Johnston County, North Carolina. It is located about twenty minutes east of Raleigh and has gone from a bedroom community to a vibrant town with diverse industries and large employers such as Caterpillar, maker of heavy equipment, Grifols, a global manufacturer of plasma and Novo Nordisk a world leader in diabetes treatment.

Heading out of Clayton on Hwy 42 West is the area commonly known as 4042 this is an unincorporated part of Johnston County meaning it is not in a town which means lower taxes. The area sprung up around the intersections of Hwy 40 and Hwy 42 thus the name. It has seen tremendous growth as folks moved into neighborhoods that provided access to Hwy 40 to get to Research Triangle Park. Mill Ridge Subdivision in Fuquay – Varina

Mill Ridge is a great subdivision in the town of Fuquay-Varina, and is in a great location a couple of miles from both the downtown of Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs.

The homes in Mill Ridge start in the high $200’s and go up to the mid $300’s. For the third quarter of 2012 eight homes were sold and three were pending with eleven active homes for sale. The average home sold for $306,215 which is $98 a square foot. The low and high prices respectively were $292,000 and $322,000.

Sales price to list price was a healthy low of 97% to a high of 106% which was new construction. Average days on market for homes in the Mill Ridge Subdivision was 177 days for the last quarter of 2012. Savvy Homes is the main builder in Mill Ridge currently and they build homes in six communities in North Carolina.

Homes in the Mill Ridge Subdivision in Fuquay-Varina range in size from 2900 square feet to 3300 square feet and four and five bedrooms with 3-3.5 bathrooms are pretty standard. You can expect to find granite kitchen countertops, hardwood floors on the main level, custom cabinets, tile, bonus rooms.

All the homes have either a front or side load two car garage, if you need a five bedroom home and a study then Mill Ridge has it. Exterior features include a mixture of stone and fiber cement, shake siding, sod some lots have pond views. The community of Mill Ridge has a pool and a playground.

Fuquay-Varina is popular with families stationed in Fayetteville who may have a spouse working in Raleigh or Research Triangle Park and thus is perfect as a halfway point. The schools in Fuquay-Varina are also a draw to families with school age children, currently the school assignments are administered by the WCSS.

Stonebridge Subdivision in North Raleigh

Stonebridge is a wonderful neighborhood in North Raleigh just off the Six Forks Road exit of I 540. It doesn’t get any better than this if you are looking for large wooded lots, homes with lots of character in an ideal location. Stonebridge features homes built from the Eighties through the Nineties on lots the smallest of which is .88 acres all the way up to 3 acres, a rare find this close to Raleigh.
