Code Orange in the Triangle

Holy Cow its hot! The North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources spec’d another Code Orange day in the Triangle. It was 102 degree yesterday at RDU weather station – which breaks the old record of 101 degrees set in 1999.

Anyone have hot tips on how to stay cool? Our family is heading to Asheville next week – our relatives from Portland OR are coming out – and its going to be a bit easier for them to deal with the heat in the mountains then in the Triangle. Temps there will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler. [Read more…]

Downtown Cary Streetscape Project

According to this Press Release from the Town of Cary, the next steps of the Downtown Cary Streetscape Project are just about underway.

Personally, I can’t wait to see Downtown Cary blossom into a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly place for people from all over the Triangle to enjoy. Let’s dream a little bit – what kinds of things would you like to see downtown? More boutique shopping? Restaurants, microbrew pubs?

If you are interested, you can go to the Town Hall building where they have a display of some of the details of the work about to begin.

Raleigh NC – Best City To Sell Your Home

Another local area city has again made it to the top of a list. According to Forbes Magazine, Raleigh has been named as the best place in the nation to sell a home. Bucking current trends in the housing market, where a glut of new homes, and subprime mortgage fall-out has shaken the foundations of the housing market, like the Loma Prieta fault shook San Francisco in ’89.
