Code Orange in the Triangle

Holy Cow its hot! The North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources spec’d another Code Orange day in the Triangle. It was 102 degree yesterday at RDU weather station - which breaks the old record of 101 degrees set in 1999.

Anyone have hot tips on how to stay cool? Our family is heading to Asheville next week - our relatives from Portland OR are coming out - and its going to be a bit easier for them to deal with the heat in the mountains then in the Triangle. Temps there will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler.

Our neighbors are considering a short drive to the Outer Banks. A great choice to enjoy the fantastic beaches there. It will only be a few degrees cooler, but the ocean breeze and the gentle waves will go a long way in beating back the Triangle heat.

As I tell people moving to the area - yes, its definitely hot in July and August, but there are great options within a few hours drive. And the weather for the rest of the year is tough to beat anywhere!
