Holy Cow its hot! The North Carolina Department of Environmental and Natural Resources spec’d another Code Orange day in the Triangle. It was 102 degree yesterday at RDU weather station – which breaks the old record of 101 degrees set in 1999.
Anyone have hot tips on how to stay cool? Our family is heading to Asheville next week – our relatives from Portland OR are coming out – and its going to be a bit easier for them to deal with the heat in the mountains then in the Triangle. Temps there will be 10 to 15 degrees cooler.
Our neighbors are considering a short drive to the Outer Banks. A great choice to enjoy the fantastic beaches there. It will only be a few degrees cooler, but the ocean breeze and the gentle waves will go a long way in beating back the Triangle heat.
As I tell people moving to the area – yes, its definitely hot in July and August, but there are great options within a few hours drive. And the weather for the rest of the year is tough to beat anywhere!
